Golf vacations with friends are especially gratifying to many of us.

 

Your travel companion(s) may make or break your trip. You have many choices: you can go on a buddies trip with all guys; a girls' gateway with all girls;  a trip with couples where you take along your significant other, and then there's the take-the-family-along trip. This one is not for everyone, however, if everyone in the family plays golf then there is no worry about finding a sitter or leaving the kids on their own at the resort while you spend 4-5 hours on the golf course.

 

A buddies trip or a girls trip can be a lot of fun, especially if the organizers schedule a competition daily and sort out prize money at the end of the week. Whether you play for money (skins game) or play for a trophy – or a drink at the end of the round - it's all in good fun and gets the competitive juices flowing.

 

Usually on a couples trip there is not as much competition as ladies tend to stay away from competition on a golf trip, unless of course you are used to playing in a league where you compete on a regular basis.

 

The conventions and banter at dinner are usually entertaining and worth the price of admission all by itself.

 

Then there’s the work companions or company trips, whether they are incentive trips or just something the boss plans to provide a bonus for a job well done or after a great year. These types of trips are fantastic for team building.
